I had the pleasure of trying out JOEY for the first time today. I have been eager to try out this restaurant since it opened but Miami Spice happening made it perfect timing. I came in for lunch. Their Miami Spice lunch menu features a variety of items from dumplings, to seared salmon to donuts. For a total of $35 for a 3 course meal. For my meal I started with the pork dumplings (fried), the burger with truffle fries, and the Italian donuts. First of all, I would like to comment on the service. It was really great! I was there for about 1.5 hours and I think a total of 6 different employees either checked in on me while having my meal, took away plates, etc. And it was not in a bother some way. The manager even came by a few times to check in on me as well. I felt very welcomed. Ashley my server was well versed on the menu. An even one of the chefs (Kevin) came out from the kitchen to bring me my meal! It is not often you get this type of service on a Friday afternoon during lunch. So I was pleasantly surprised. This restaurant is located in the new extension of the Aventura mall near the new bowling alley, Toku and Louis Vuitton/Nordstorm. The decor and set up was very pleasing and clean. Making it a great ambiance for working lunch or even a date night. There is valet offered for about $10 or free parking few steps away closer to the SweetGreen. I had a great experience at JOEY and plan to come back again. My only complaint after reviewing my receipt, I noticed I was charged $5.75 for getting truffle fries instead of normal fries. The server offered me a side of fries, truffle fries, or a salad. That disclosure that the truffle fries would result in an extra charge was not mentioned on the Miami Spice menu, nor did my server mention it. I think that would be something to make note of if planning to order truffle fries. Overall, a great first experience. I spent about $42 after taxes and the extra charge for the truffle fries. But for $35 it was a filling meal and something I suggest trying out before the end of Miami Spice!

I wanted to try a new spot for Happy Hour and this caught my eye. The HH here is AMAZING! I'm usually looking at the real menu and substituting items because a happy hour isn't enough, this was not the case here. The place was not as packed about 10 people during happy hour and the service was excellent. food came out very quickly and the drinks were well balanced and delicious. The place was clean, beautiful, and the ambiance felt very serene. I'm sure this was the calm before the dinner time rush, but it was perfect. We got the crunchy tuna roll, the chicken lettuce wraps, shrimp tempura, and the two dips. I was definitely feeling well fed and happy after that HH. All the food was cooked perfectly. The chicken was flavored well, not fatty at all. My favorite item was the two dip combination. The corn guacamole and the aged cheddar dip were so so good. Can't wait to come back and try the actual dinner menu!

Tonight was our 6th visit to Joey. We return for the friendly wait staff, consistently delicious food, and attentive service. We went on a Friday night, not our usual dining night, because we can only get the roasted corn guacamole on the Happy Hour menu and that's only Monday to Friday. So I wonder why they took it off the regular menu. Tonight we had the hibachi chicken wings, which are the best wings of any restaurant and the duo dips (guacamole and cheese dips), as appetizers. We had the tuna poke bowl, the Mediterranean bowl, and the steak and sushi as entrees. Delicious! The kitchen is fast and our drinks were also quickly refilled. We really like Joey and it's been a great addition to Aventura restaurants.
